This is excellent, and full of emotion, particularly as it was painted by one of the surviving men who fought for us all.

Thank you all for your comments. I'm afraid I've given the wrong impression about who painted it. the image is loosely based on a very small black and white photo from my grandfather's album

I have submitted this picture before but wanted to include it in the November remembrance period. From my grandfather's album. He fought in Egypt and France and was one of four brothers who went with the NZ Expeditionary Forces to fight in WW1. Miraculously all 4 returned.
