Hi and thanks everyone for your great responses. I started this one very wet on wet for the sky and the similar for the islet using a lot more pigment. The sea was done that way too although I added some of the foreground wave movement while still quite damp. The surf was added last with white gouache so that I could get the initial washes in without trying to skip around tricky bits.

Based on a photo of a place in Northland NZ that goes by the uninteresting name of Bland Bay. However the islet to the right has a more exotic title and that is Moanarua. We spent a holiday here one Xmas - the weather was quite rough for that time of the year but we had the whole bay to ourselves.
