Lakeland Blues
This is my first attempt at using a Hake brush and another brush which I’ll get to in a moment. This result came after studying Stephen Coates instructional video on the use of a Hake brush. It so inspired me that I bought one to try it out. Everything was going fine until I used a hair drier to speed drying time up but I think I applied too close or to early because it pushed the paint around before it had time to settle on the paper, Especially in the lower lake area! I had to cover up the mistake, so further inspired I added trees an foreground using a Steven Coates Foliator brush. Again a first attempt, it worked! Hey presto recognisable trees. Phew! Thanks must go to Steven for his enthusiasm and inspiration on these techniques.
