“El Corte Inglés”, Barcelona, Spain. 38x56cm on Arches rough 300g. Our son Bernhard lived for one year in Barcelona. We visited him frequently, watched “Barca” life but did also some shopping. El Corte Inglés is an institution you cannot ignore. You get everything there! This view of the huge building impressed me, because it reflects the beauty of Barcelona’s architecture and shows also the hustle and bustle in the streets! I painted this street scene in one go, very fast. In my opinion it is very important to introduce human figures in a painting to get it to life! The people are sometimes only a few blobs or a hint of a brushstroke. The cars in the foreground slowed down in front of a red traffic light and their reflected back lights I used to lead the eye into the picture.
