This is a lovely composition Christof. Love your treatment of the sky and buildings.

I love your watercolours Christof and I enjoy your descriptions to go along with them.

This is watercolour at its best Christof

This is 1st class! It's quite difficult to draw and paint bridges. You tackled this subject perfectly.

“Blauwbrug”, Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Watercolour 56x38cm, on Saunders Waterford, rough, 640g. On my way home back to the hotel, after my early morning walk, I crossed the massive Blauwbrug, which spans over the River Amstel direct to the Waterlooplain. I went to the riverbank and did a fast sketch and took a couple of photos. With the help of this reference material I created my ½ size imperial watercolour painting. I started with a wet in wet approach for the sky. The same colours I used for the river and when I was finished I let it dry completely. For the main shape of the bridge and the decorative lanterns I reserved the white of the paper. The handsome seventeenth-century houses in the background I painted in one go with little detail. The mood in my painting is set by the rise of the early morning sun. I hope you like it!
