Thank you all for your comments, I really appreciate them. I have since had to alter the painting slightly as my beekeeper husband tells me the body is a little too slim!

Thank you Sylvia. I'm not sure now but I think I used 'dirty' paint water and then highlighted with a little white gouache. Also there was just a touch of blue.
