Crocus by Christine Haywood

This is just amazing, Christine. The colour scheme of the stones are ok to me. I think they add some variety to the whole composition because all the leaves have the same colour. Perfectly executed painting! I love it!

Not distracting at all, the stones give a beautiful grounding for the rich crocus.

Thank you all for your comments. It really is a great help because I find it quite difficult to look at my work objectively although leaving it alone for several weeks sometimes does the trick!

The stones don't distract at all their colours are so natural and balance the crocus perfectly. No pun intended LOL

I think this is just right, Christine. It's an elegant and beautiful composition and the stones are not at all distracting, but they add to the variation of shapes throughout the painting.
