Hi there maniac.--- Loads of atmosphere in this---- good greens.----Wish I had been with you, I like chicken for lunch

Nice use of the watercolour medium to capture this scene, I like this and your others in your gallery which I have just discovered and browsed , all really well painted

Chris this is fabulous!! Love everything about it, may I ask which colours you use to obtain the grey in the clouds?

Hi there Fiona thank you for your comments on my painting. In answer to your question,it kind of comes in two parts. I don't really have a hard and fast way of creating greys but I do remember that on this occasion it was predominantly Utramarine blue and basically the still damp muck left on the palette from a painting finished earlier that day! If my memory serves me correctly I added some red to it, that would have to be either Light red or Indian red. sorry I can't be any more specific. I hope this helps. Very best regards and once again thank you for your comments. Chris (Cabbycabbage)

Hi Chris thank you for the information about the grey, I think I'll have a mixing session see what I come up with. Regards Fiona

Sorry about the typo in the description, must pay attention in class!

Lovely scene ,beautifully painted and deservedly in the top ten gallery, congratulations Chris.

Many congratulations about being in the September Top Ten gallery. Your work really deserves that!

This is a triditional Cotswold threshing Barn found about 3/4 of a mile from the A40 on a path between Little Barrington and Westwell. I was completely alone whilst I painted this amongst the long glass around the building. Surprisingly, only a very noisy cockerel joined on what turned out to be a very pleasant afternoon. I have to admit that I put the chicken in later as I really couldn't decide where to place the poor chap whilst I was there, and I also had a couple of reference sketches at home to help! What he was doing there on his own (I saw no others!) I have no idea! but I did throw him a few pieces from my packed lunch. Saunders Waterford 300lb Rough High White paper.
