This is fantastic.

So, so good Detlev. The way you have painted layers of foliage that recede in to the distance create fabulous depth.

Beautiful, Detlev, great composition and such a lovely range of greens.

Wow ! That's superb

Fabulous Detlev, instantly knew you had painted this.

Lovely work.

This is a wonderful painting Detlev. I thought it was oil at first on the strength of the colours

Always recognise and love your work Detlev and this has to be one of your very best, brilliant painting.

Absolutely superb!!

Stunning 😍

I love all those greens!

Absolutely gorgeous

Excellent. Woodland scenes can be difficult subjects to paint - especially in watercolour. The green monochromatic effect works well. It takes me back to spring time in the Chilterns beech woods where I grew up. The use of different tones for foreground and background objects conveys a sense of depth. Did you use masking fluid or 'lifting out' for the highlight areas? I think this technique would work well for a bluebell wood.

Thanks so much for all the great comments from you! A reply to Brian: I have used masking fluid very sparingly because it sometimes hinders the flow of work when you have to paint carefully around a spot that needs to be left out.
