Excellent control of washes to achieve the "soft focus" and dramatic light. The other masterstroke was to merge the nearer houses. The interest is in the white one at the bend with its overhanging bay and the sun hitting it. I painted that row years ago. The other houses can make a painting too busy if their detail distracts from the main features.

This is very skilfully painted Brendan, beautiful ‘wet in wet’ washes gives a very ‘soft’ feel. The sun’s reflection draws attention to the white frontage of the end house.
