I'm wholeheartedly with you on this, Brian, i always have my sketch book with me and encourage my students to do likewise. I, too, use a pen...no going back and rethinking it!!!

I'm leaning against the corner of the Council Offices to make this sketch, while the rest of my party indulge in a bit of retail therapy. I used a 5" square sketch book which fits easily into my pocket, so you're seeing this at almost full scale. I used a 0.1 fine liner which I always carry with me. It's a two point perspective which I haven't laboured, to avoid too much distortion in the building to the right. Those of you who go in for this sort of thing will understand how rewarding I feel it is to record a scene in a sketch rather than a photograph.
