Lovely busy but unfussy scene, Brian...I love the story you tell too, great light and strong composition.

Beautiful painting but what a story!!!

Eccy Road as it's known in these parts is a vibrant thoroughfare by day and by night, with a selection of bars, cafes and restaurants populating its 3.5 mile route. As it winds its way East-West out of the city centre it takes in Hunter's Bar and Endcliffe Park, celebrated in recent weeks by an the aerial flypast to remember the sacrifice in 1944 of ten American air crew, who saved the lives of a group of young children by choosing not to crash land into the Park. One of those children, Tony Foulds, who has famously tended the memorial to the air crew for more than 60 years, is well known to me - as a supportive parent of a cub scout where I was a pack leader. Central in the painting is the Porter Brook pub, though I never shirk from vehicles and street furniture which I think are very much of their time. Watercolour.
