This looks like a very complex painting which must have taken ages Brian. Your knowledge of architecture is well demonstrated here with great prespective but a sensitivity of colour. Love your handling of light and shade.

Complex scene but you've achieved a light touch. Like it.

Wow! Super - nice and free.

A difficult scene ( for me ) perfectly executed Brian.

Think I can see me and the other half in there - great painting!

Great interpretation of a busy scene Brian. Totally agree these have to be done quickly with a minimum of fuss. I usually focus on one or two figures and suggest the others with fairly loose brush work. You have also achieved a great feeling of light which makes this a lovely painting.

Another contre jour painting. Different colours in shadows to left are unified by tone; bright, spicey lemon yellow foliage to right over rich dark violet; highlights where it matters to various shapes; and the single point perspective in radiating shadows; all contribute to the flavour of the back-lighting. In repsonse to some feedback here's a few more words. Because it's complex it mustn't take long, less than a one hour demo' in fact, to avoid a fussy outcome. A minimal sketch - the foreground figures, cutlery station, tree and outline of the 2 buildings (with three perspective lines to guide the placement of paint) from a 0.1 fineliner was all, - most of the sorting was done with the brush; no other people were sketched, just added front-to-back; using a rough paper to break things up; gloopy mixtures to accelerate drying & avoid running. Thanks 4 the feedback
