I've been working on this "against the light" evening view of Ramsey Harbour (Isle of Man) over the last 2 afternoons on dark grey (almost black) Sennelier pastel paper which has a lot of tooth (like sandpaper). It took a whole afternoon to develop the composition from one of my own photos and draw the outlines with pastel pencil; I then had great fun working quickly with my Jacksons soft pastel sticks.
