Summer Evening at Lands End by Bobbie Matulja
Whenever I've had a break from painting, I always begin again with pastels. I used one of my own photographs and a quick plein air preparatory sketch I made during our holiday in Cornwall at the end of August last year. The early evening light was really soft, almost - but not quite - blurring the horizon line. I used copper brown Canson Mi Tientes mixed media paper, and tried out some of the techniques in recent articles by Steve Hall and Janette Summerfield in The Artist.
