This painting was inspired by Jenny Aitken's article on painting a night scene (The Artist, March 2022). As I'd never painted a night scene, I thought this would be an interesting challenge, so I produced this painting based on photos I'd taken a few years ago in Budapest. I really enjoyed painting with a very different palette from normal. The colours easily complement each other, and the shadow areas were achieved by glazes. Oil, on 3mm MDF board, 15" x 20"
