At the End of the Day

The overall effect is good, the side you worked on has a deep shade look to it that contrasts nicely with the left of the painting. I tend to beat myself up when I change thing, and have doubts about it, to me this looks fine, and I’m sure other people would agree. Best thing is don’t comment let others decide what they think without your help. It a good painting Barry, now say that to yourself.

Superb Barry, I kinda like the rhs contrast

Thank you Paul and Heather. Paul thanks for your comments they are reassuring, I am certainly not beating myself up, my philosophy is I can always paint it again, but I did want to illustrate that watercolour can be corrected. However I would advocate getting it right first time with good planning playing a major role, I need to start taking my own advice!!!

I looked, thought !I like that" and that was it. No further analysis needed from me.

Edit. When you look at a painting you can easily start evaluating is as a like for like photograph and thus take away all its art. For me, that's the last thing I want.

may I totally agree with Jim, Barry, detail, but not overdone, great!

Totally agree Jim and Thalia I often make a drawing from the photo before painting.

We'd never know you had problems, Barry. Another superb example of your art. I love the really confident way you've painted the boats.

Beautiful painting, Barry.

Beautiful painting

Many thanks to Fiona, Lewis, Margaret, Romila and Stephen as ever for your supportive comments.

Another photo I have studied many times and have revisited due to self isolating. I completely repainted the right hand side which has resulted in a less than clean result. Does go to show that alterations although not desirable can be done with watercolour.
