I think this works better Dennis, the rag paper does give more chance to layer washes. It is an ancient scene, so there will be some movement in the buildings, well done.

I try and make my errors appear intentional Barry, doesn't always come off mind. Super piece as usual.

This version seems a little softer Barry but like the first one very much. The buildings are very crooked there anyway, so who cares,as long as it’s lovely to look at.

A different take, but equally appealing and accomplished. The crooked buildings actually add to the character of the place and the painterliness of the piece and don't look at all out of place.

Thank you all I like repeating subjects and trying different materials. It’s great to hear your opinions on the outcome.

At Art group last night I decided to have another go at this scene using Saunders Waterford cotton paper. I was on the coffee rota which came at a time when I should have been developing a wash and despite poor planning I still came up with a reasonable effort. I still have crooked buildings Stephen! Still plenty of errors but I seem to recall someone saying that producing a good painting involves keeping your errors to a minimum.
