It's a cracker Barry one of your best . Great colours and composition top notch

Thank you Dennis, it’s growing on me and lovely comments like yours surely help.

See your point with the red but I think it leads in as well to the post box and warm faces. Think it’s great.

Thank you Brian I think you are right there are two ways to look at it.

It looks great to me, Barry. I think the red post box leads your eye in before you glance to the right. Brilliant.

Yes, I would have changed the colour Barry, the red sun blind and post box are great. However, another very successful piece with good contrast.

Thank you Ellen on reflection I think you may right, it’s good to have your feedback.

Thanks Alan as you can see from my comments I am on the waiver re the red buildings, maybe the only solution is to paint another version.

I think it’s a smasher Barry. Unless you really want to keep the lamp post on the right, you could crop that part of the building out without disturbing the seated figure, and if there are still traces of the red, darken them off to a shadow . Or, you could take some of the strength out of the red, so it doesn’t grab the eye too much. Still like it as it is though Barry.

Good painting - I like the dappled light.

Thanks Fiona all good suggestions, I have it on my sideboard at the moment I will take a few days and decide if I am going to make any changes.

Very nice Barry, I wonder if I would have noticed the red door on the right, if you had not mentioned it. The pillar box and red blind are a strong pull into the scene, as are the figures walking into the scene. How about How about the post and foliage a bit to the right, or adding some blue to the offending door? Good that you are asking the right questions.

Thank you Maureen Stephen and Carole, I am really enjoying the debate which clearly illustrates diversity in our opinions and art. What is good is that this forum gives us the opportunity to share both our art and opinions.

I really like this scene and the way you have captured it.

Thank you Gudrun I am pleased that you like it.

Always nice to see your work Barry. You make watercolour paining look easy.

Thank you Ibolya, you wouldn’t say that if you were to see me struggling with my subject but I appreciate you giving me such a lovely compliment.

From a photo I took earlier this year. I wanted to get more dappled light in the shadow area which was what initially attracted me but got carried away. However, it was a good exercise in using darks to capture the light. I wonder if I should have used some artistic licence and altered the colour of the right hand building as the red takes the eye out of the picture.
