Sad these traditionalists. Dennis Roberts would second me here. But you have chosen a medium Barbara. I would say stick to it and continue your adventure. The best of luck.

Shame on your local art society - this deserves to be seen

Thank you for your support. Annoyed rather than upset. They also said it was craft not art! A usual repost if other artists do not understand the technical processes. Insulting and arrogant. I have been advised that as I can paint any subject/ style I reapply with more traditional pieces and I will walk it!! Tempting, photographic landscape, botanical flowers, loose watercolour and oil, no nasty additives! There isn't a UK society for mixed media artists.... Perhaps I'll investigate how to start one Mike tried a search under your name but it didn't give any results? Kal, I work in series so there are more to come, please look at those on my website.....www.pinterest.com/barbarartist

Feel for you - I don't work in mixed media but do paint abstracts - here is the link - hope it opens for you: http://www.painters-online.co.uk/Gallery/Michael-Edwards-Albums/Michael-Edwards-Acrylics-2015/_al25539

"Craft not art" ..... unbelievably stupid, narrow-minded, and incidentally complete and utter rubbish: of course it's not "craft", you numbskulls! I like traditional media, and use them; and my work is traditional, I suppose, on the whole - I don't generally use additives either, but that's my choice, not a set of rules I apply to anyone else's work. What incredible arrogance! Well, this traditional artist would be proud to show his work alongside yours (of course, the reverse may not be true.....) and any society I've ever been a member of would welcome you; or I should promptly resign from it.

Thank you all for your comments, very uplifting. Good to know I am not alone in my belief in pushing boundaries, materials and creativity. There is lots of artistry in crafts and lots of craftsmanship in artistry so a bit insulting always round.....I run an annual exhibition/competition for approx fifty artists and heard a similar comment about textiles. So this year showcased fine art textiles...point proven. Will find a way round this and how I feel about it!

I think this my favourite of the 3d pen paintings - sad that the local art society more interested in twee paintings of calendar pictures rather than something a little more interesting - suspect that it would be more popular in a trendy art shop and more marketable than the more traditional painting styles you see at art societys

They have a range of styles and a prominent member also say that the traditional comment was rubbish. I think it may be just who was on the panel. But the way they behave is unbelievable.... Pre printed rejection letter, inked in name ... 3 lines! I will write to the secretary with my views. It's been great to have this forum and thank you for the support it has strengthened my resolve to complain. Though having fully investigated the society it is probably not one where I would be happy! Anyone who accept 70 applications, demand artists deliver and collect, knowing they usually only take 6-8, provides no feedback and a standard rejection letter is taking pleasure in disappointing a huge number of fellow artists deliberately! Unforgivable. Thanks for posting

A landscape abstraction featuring 3D printing pen technology. The aim was to represent the spirit of a wind rushing across a landscape. Just rejected by a local art society as not 'traditional enough'!
