Rejected?? Maybe they don't like non traditional work. Smashing to me Barbara

Seems so, can live without it .......sold several already. Thanks for your support

Very unique work Barbara.

I think I can hazard a guess as to the kind of work your local art society likes ... but will try (uncharacteristically) not to be unkind. I don't have any experience of 3D printing pen technology, but the painting could have been done with conventional media, eg glues, plasters, texture paste, and glazed on top - presumably it would have taken longer, but I can't pretend to know and would be interested in further information about your methods: blog? Website? Link to anything that would enlighten? I should appreciate it. It's a very powerful piece, in which I can see references to classical mythology, skeletons emerging from the deep - but as you say, you can read almost anything into it, and I expect I'll see something different, or something more, on a later viewing. Snag is, there are people who just won't bring their imagination to bear on a work - they expect everything to be done for them, every i to be dotted; a phrase I've heard is "I like to know what I'm looking at" - probably describes the selection committee of your local society. Their loss.

Hi the 3 d printing element is confusing sorry. The painting is worked in traditional acrylic materials pastes etc. the 3d pen looks like a glue gun the filament goes in one end comes out hot at the other and hardens in the air. Quite difficult to use but great fun...apart from the finger fatigue holding the button down. The 3d pen element is the filigree work which also has natural fibres added, just ordered a 2nd generation one which I am hoping will extend my work again because it has more sophisticated speed control and is a lot lighter. It is a long slow build up process. Not only do they want traditional but also 'non craft'. This is what got me really miffed there is lists of artistry in crafts and lots of craftsmanship in art. Insulting to both disciplines I think.

This is beautiful Barbara, love the depth of colour and the way the light plays on the contours.

No I don't want to read anything into it - I just love it as it is - an exciting set of textures and marks. thanks, by the way, for your kind comments about my abstracts.

A mixed media painting with 3D printing pen technology. A local art society rejected this one too. I love the depth of colour and the fact that you can see different perspectives. Some people see the wind blowing on the surface and the the bottom two third as the dark water beneath. The beauty of abstracts and abstractions is that the viewer has their own intellectual and emotional response to paintings.
