Indeed, a great loss but a very nice painting

Beautiful, David. It makes you despair doesn't it? Hopefully the tree will regenerate and nature will renew itself.

Love it David. Aww least you got a nice painting of the tree 🌳

Thank you Heather, Stephen, Sarah and Faye for your very kind comments.

A superb painting David, and yes I agree is a great loss, will never be the same again

Thank you, Cheryl. Yes it is a great loss to the Northumberland landscape and such a international icon!

A good memory David. Such a sad and pointless act to cut it down.

Super painting David. It was awful hearing what happened to this tree.

Thank you Tessa and Denise for our kind and poignant remarks!

It is a lovely painting David. It really was mindless vandalism to destroy such an iconic tree. It will hopefully send out shoots from the base and regrow but it will end up a like a coppiced tree with bushy shoots and not the same as before.

A good repost David…..👍

Thank you David and Fiona for your comments. I agree, David, it will never be the same again even if it regrows!

Thank you for doing this - I thought of painting a tribute to this tree, but as I'd have nothing but other people's photos to go by, I didn't: glad I didn't, because I wouldn't want to compete with this! The news of its destruction made me so angry ... three hundred years old, and cut down by a fool, for reasons we don't yet know: but whatever they were, they'd be inadequate. That such ignorance can still exist in the world - well, this is just one example to count among thousands.

A very poignant painting this week. It was a lovely tree, and it is a lovely painting!

Thank you for your comments Robert and Bobbie. I agree entirely with your comment, Robert!!

An appropriate re post David and a lovely painting. Agree with all the comments

Nice work David despite the loss.

Excellent, the tree will always be remembered by your painting, a great gift!

Wonderful painting, David. Thank for sharing.

Thank you Martin, Ross, Romila and Carol for your kind comments!

A lovely painting of the iconic tree. You’ve done it proud David!

Thank you so much, Sarah!

Thank you David, for painting something beautiful to represent such a heinous and devastating event.

A beautiful tribute, I was so sad to hear of this, it must be a loss to this historical landscape

Thank you Ann and Lisa for your kind comments!

A beautiful painting of such a beautiful tree , unfortunately we will never see one on the spot again

It is a very sad situation, Paul!

Beautiful and sad at the same time David.

A wonderful painting. It is such a shame that such reckless and stupid behaviour has caused such upset for so many.

Thank you for your comment, Spencer. I whole heartedly agree with your words.

A painting that captures the heart of the scene. Beautifully done, David. Such a pity about the sycamore.

Thank you for your kind words, Seok!!

A reposting of the watercolour I did last year of this famous tree adjacent Hadrian's Wall in winter time. I was horrified, as most, to hear it had been felled in a mindless act of vandalism.
