I love a bit of history along with a painting David. Super narrative and a painting which adds to the story.

This is really well painted. an excellent watercolour.

A great painting of such a dad place .

A great historical setting David. Thanks for your information that helps to understand this lovely painting of yours.

Great work David, I've seen both the Zulu Wars films, this one and the Welsh Borderers battle "Zulu" at Rourke's Drift, and read up the history of both.. A nicely captured scene

A poignant story and this is very well painted, David ( Like Michael at first glance I thought it was Lindisfarne too!)

A wonderful tribute to all those who died beautifully painted and a poignant reminder

I completed this watercolour this morning of the battle site of Isandlawana. This was the site of the first battle in1879 in the Anglo Zulu War where the British Army were defeated by a Zulu impi of over 20 000 warriors. The site is located in the province of KwaZulu Natal in South Africa and is very much on the tourist trail. The film " Zulu Dawn" made in 1979 commemorates the battle. The white mounds of stone cover the graves of the men lost in the battle.
