Many thanks David and Heather! This drawing started off with Black bird as when we were away at Port Fairy lighthouse while sitting on a seat, this beautiful black bird flew over and posed so many times.I took photos and it's only this week I have knuckled down to start some pencil drawings. Of course the main theme is Emu guarding the eggs and so it's about his dream as Emu longs to fly like blackbird but can only run so that's the introduction... The male Emu guards the eggs too, these birds are prehistoric so along with dinosaurs they carry their DNA and the children are mesmerised! and so are we too! Nice to return to POL after a while, but starting with drawing again. ☺️🌠

Thank you Coral, Martin, and Fiona, these Emus are fascinating to draw, been drawing some thumbnail images on my desk sketch pad as there are so many different poses, they do inspire! ☺️

Another pencil drawing where Emu is guarding the eggs and black bird sits on the dry earth.Its another image for the pictorial book. Emu has been dreaming about his passion to fly and over on the other side he reflects upon what it was like to soar high in the sky without a care! Emu guards the eggs and wakens to the shrill bird call from Black bird. Of course Emus cannot fly but they can run fast!
