This is the third of three images I used to illustrate a special service for Good Friday. I wanted to show Jesus as he would have, been on the cross, but found it hugely difficult to find an image of him, where he is not coyly covered up by a loin cloth, so created my own to bring out the shame as well as the pain of crucifixion but also his total isolation at the end. What do you think? Love and God bless ❤️🙏🕊

I think your interpretation is very good - a powerful painting

Thank you, dear Heather for your lovely affirming response; Love and God bless😃❤️🙏🕊

I agree with Heather Andrew. A very powerful piece of work.

A powerful painting. Love the light and dark and how you have added just the right amount of detail x

Thank you, Chris, response; Love and God bless😃❤️🙏🕊

Thank you, dear Jacqueline, for your thoughtful and affirming response; Love and God bless😃❤️🙏🕊

The Bible tells us the Roman soldiers are said to have drawn lots for Jesus's robe, so I would imagine he was allowed some dignity as much for the onlooking women, and his private parts covered, but maybe that's just a personal view as we can never know, Andrew. . Art is about personal concepts, so yours is one. Nicely done.

Thank you Jim for your feedback, but it was normal practice to strip those being crucified to humiliate as well as torture, and Jesus was not seen as special by the soldiers, so I think that it is unlikely that he would have been treated any differently; Love and God bless, my friend 🙏🕊

A moving picture of suffering, well captured 🙏

Quite so Andrew. I was not in any way detracting from your fine sketch. I suppose My mind avoids the brutality and wickedness of some humans. "The evil that men do lives after them" . Apology.

Thank you, Stephen for your reflective feedback response; Love and God bless😃🙏🕊

Thank you, Jim; no apology needed; you just gave me your view on the event ; God bless 🙏🕊

Thank you, Spencer for your affirming feedback; Love and God bless😃🙏🕊

Thank you, dear Christine, for that feedback! Love and God bless😃❤️🙏🕊

The word 'powerful' has been used a number of times to describe this Andrew and indeed it is. It's a very striking and emotive image.

Thank you, dear Russell, for that strong response; Love and God bless🙏🕊

Thank you, Coral; Love and God bless😃🙏🕊

I’ve always loved water, its movement, its colour, its power. I had the privilege of working as a hydrologist for nine years before ordination, necessarily but enjoyably observing the movement of water in full flow or even in floods. That was thirty years ago but my love for moving water has not…
