St Laurence Isle of Wight

Just up the road and round a few corners from me. A fabulous collection of paintings.

Very nice of you to say so! So if I assume you're on the Isle of Wight, you're spoilt for choice with interesting things to paint, not to mention dinosaurs to hunt.

Like Robert, says a fantastic gallery but I'm particularly attracted to this one. Beautiful blues and the detail under the foreground sea is amazing. Makes me want to be there.

I like this one too. Especially the foreground.

I wanted to comment on this because I like the mid & background, but not so keen on the foreground - the opposite of the comments above! Art is so subjective, but that's a good thing.

@ Val, Robert could point you in the right direction ;-) after Niton, as you approach St Laurence the road has collapsed (!) a tad, then you get to the caravan park, just walk down to the water at that point.... @ Ade, thanks for looking. I looked at your work, and really like the loose style. Believe it or not, I'm evolving more towards your style now, am trying out some wildlife stuff with looser brushstrokes, and I admit it's more fun. @Lynda, i can see what you mean, i can see how the foreground might come a bit too close to looking artificial/ contrived, is that what you mean? My mum mentioned she thought it should end at the bottom of the smaller rock on the right hand side....

Really nice colours. Like you portfolio Andrew. jx

I love this portfolio. I admire your mastery of colour and brushwork.

Stunning paintings in your portfolio! Well done.

Mostly wet-on-wet, with some final detail work at the tacky stage. This was inspired from a holiday in the area.
