Love the noble profile and the beautiful detail of the basket. The water is painted so skilfully and the whole composition is very pleasing to the eye. What medium have you used Alix?

A lovely subject to paint. While walking along a beach on one of the islands of The Philippines I saw him at a distance. I took a photo but had to change the angle completely to make a good composition. I loved the non-matching bits of his boat and the tatty hull. The light was beginning to change as it was late afternoon which added to the interest.
