Down the Cobbled Steps, Helston
32x42cm, mixed media. This is a drawing of one of my favourite views of Helston, looking down the steps of St Michael’s Church. I loved drawing the different textures of the weathered granite, the cobbled steps and the bark of the twisted branches. This scene makes me think of the many people who have walked up and down these steps; to imagine the stories of the families who have lived in the houses, whose histories are intertwined like the branches of the tree that forms the arch over the cobbled steps
