Denia Castle Rampart - Plein air oil sketch.
An early morning oil sketch, with part of this historic castle acting as an imposing backdrop. Some good strong shadows evident, which always helps to give depth to a painting. I’ve only managed a few oils so far on my latest visit, concentrating mainly on ink sketches which number around two dozen and counting - thanks for all the positive comments on those I’ve selected to post so far. Oil on board 30 x 40cm. I’ll be concentrating on more oils in the coming week, the colours and light here are so gorgeous, it’s a pity not to record them on canvas! There should be enough information recorded here for a later larger studio painting.
