Beautiful sketch Alan, as usual. A lot of interest even if no great landmarks. So glad to hear that your weather appears to be picking up.

you have captured the atmosphere and mood beautifully as ever, Alan love the composition

Another excellent sketch, Alan. Great composition and use of colour.

Love the colours, Alan.

Great depth to this sketch, Alan, and great muted tones. Lovely! Brian

Lovely, I like the way you have led us down that footpath to that village, sorry you didn't get your pint lol 😀

Ah I can't wait for another day like this Alan!! Can feel the warmth of the spring sunshine in this and just love your reds!!

I've said it before Alan, you've got a magical way with colour, that turquoise and the deep red really make this.

Val speaks for me too Alan, you use colour combinations that I would never dream of putting together.

Over the hills and far away and you did . How do you get that hazy look Alan?

RJ would love to be with you. Smashing work

Love your unusual choice of colours in this and the overall tranquility it excudes.

Great oil sketch, Alan. Intrigued by the slightly pointillist foreground, Really works nicely.

Thanks so much all of you who commented, these simple landscapes are so pleasurable and stress-free to paint. That hazy look Sylvia!, I don't know, it just happens. I would have had a hazy look had I made it to that fab little hostelry with real ale on tap.

Love this Alan. Gorgeous colours 👍🏻

That's super Alan. I like your touches of red which seem to bring it to life, this looks a lovely part of the country.

That’s a great palette Alan, I’ve been using something similar myself on the last few oils. I’m becoming quite fond of the emerald I have to say! Lol Lovely depth and lots of interesting marks and brush work.

If this is the sketch can't wait to see the finished painting, great work.

I like the composition and the feeling of depth!

Beautifully painted Alan,

Top line on homepage - great!

Oil on board 30 x 40cm painted plein air on Saturday, a very hot and hazy morning. No great landmarks to get excited about, just fields and a group of trees to focus on. Quite pastel toned colours once again as in my last posting. I didn't make it to Milwich, although there is a great little pub nestled away there, and a cold beer or two would have gone down a treat.
