Striking and interesting as always Alan.

Great pallet Alan, complicated things Lock gates to paint yet they look so simple, I think the background is great full of movement and a hint of trouble to come with those colours, it really gives a great backdrop to the smashing trees, nice one Alan.

Another super piece Alan, the strong winter trees on the right do stand out well against the pale sky.I also look forward to reading your article.

certainly for me a post impressionist feel with your work Alan which I find very pleasing .the diagonal lines lead the eye in towards the figures Again, a well constructed composition full of thoughtful colour contrast David Harrison

Thank you all for your comments, always appreciated, Derek, there are many confusing perspective points, I do agree, as this was painted at the scene there will inevitably be some 'irregular lines'. I've had a close look and also compared it to some ink sketches I did and I can't see any great issue, but another set of eyes may have spotted something. Let me know what you think it may be.

Lovely rich colours and an interesting composition. I like the style of these paintings too. ( just looked back on what I had typed and found that ' rich' had been changed to 'fish' by prescriptive text, so glad I spotted it or you would have wondered what on earth I was talking about! :) )

You're so good with colour Alan, that touch of red/orange in the sky behind those calligraphic trees is a master touch.

You always paint such interesting vistas/subjects Alan....or do you make the ordinary into interesting with your approach. I think you could take any subject and inject colour, emotion and beauty....and you do. I absolutely love the top right quater of this, it would make a very pleasing painting in it's own right.

Ok Alan thanks. It's something to do with the LH bank, the foregound leading to the tunnel and the surface of the water. Is that far lock gate right? Sorry mate.
