Love all your style Alan super all round artist

Fabulous and only 20 mins! You do show us up Alan;) Love the smattering of colours in this beautiful piece of ink work.

As you say, Alan, it is very expressive and the view point is unusual for this Church. A nice sketch.

Terrific Alan! Loose but packed with information, love the palette which compliments the subject very well. For a loose sketch it has real impact. Love this kind of work that you do.

Fiona has summed it up nicely for me! I really like the blue and red too.

Lovely loose sketchwork Alan...and I love the limited palette of prussian blue and red.

A really lively sketch - I love the colours you have introduced, especially the burnt sienna. The little touches of white (pastel?) as highlights really lifts it too.

Many thanks for all your comments, Julie, the highlights were dropped in with white Plaka.

Accuracy - if you want that, there's the camera. It doesn't matter to me at all - I've not been here, but you make me want to.

There's great strength in all your paintings (I'm presuming you're not Superman in an artful disguise) and an immediately recognizable style.

Amazing painting Alan :)

Alan, Love that sky, it makes a statement and sets off the whole painting, great palette and the white highlights are superb and not over done.

Splendid sketch indeed Alan , beautifully worked

20 minutes - I'm really envious, Alan! It's superb - excellent rendition of essential details, but fresh and spontaneous.

Ink on Fabriano 300lb HP paper, 11 x 15’’. A rapid 20+ minute sketch in ink using a rigger brush for the small detail. It’s not accurate, but it’s expressive, and that’s how I enjoy painting. I hope that I’ve captured the essence of the scene without too much detail. Inspiration for this came from John Edward’s sketch posted Friday of this beautiful church in Venice, but I have drawn it from a slightly different viewpoint. It would have been incredible to have been painting this en plein air, and something that I am thinking about for my next trip abroad.
