Love your style of painting John. It’s so down to earth and has great depth with all your bold brushstrokes and use of impasto.

Oh Carole you have made my day- thanks so much 😊😊

Really good John, the colours and texture build up a super Highland scene ☺️

Wonderful painting. I love the verticality of the marks in the foreground and the horizontality in the midground, and the subtle tones. I'm with you on the rain, but I do like views when I reach the top. Reminds me of Ben Wyvis.

Thanks so much Stephen, you’re right- there is a quite specific highland palette 🙏🏼🙏🏼🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Martin! Such a great critique, I’m very pleased at the positive way you’ve read this little painting 😊

Very evocative John - the sky is wonderful - I love the layers suggesting shifting weather and the colours are spot on.

Gorgeous mark making, there are some great comments here which I totally agree with!

Really beautiful - love the marks and use of colour/paint.

Sarah, thank you very much- I enjoy painting these muted Scottish landscape colours 🙏🏼

Thank you so Much Michael, I can tell from what you wrote that your really seeing into the painting and feeling something- I’m very happy about that

Thalia and Rachel, I’m so grateful for your kind comments and I’m delighted you like this piece 🙏🏼🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿😊

This is absolutely beautiful, it reminds me so much of my time living in Scotland and walking such beautiful areas . Once your soaked through no point in hiding from the rain anymore.

I can’t add much to the other comments which are spot on other than that I am transported into this world. Superb

Hi Coral, I'm always delighted when you like my work :)

Oh Dixie! You hit the nail on the head with your description, it's good to forget being soaked and just enjoy the moment... I do cheat and wear a gore-tex coat sometimes though ;)

Martin, thank you for your comment, it is a privilege for me to transport people into another (and hopefully pleasant) world. :)

This impasto has such gusto ... love it!

The colours are gorgeous and the energy in your brushstrokes is fabulous.

Beautiful work John.

Bobbie, Sylvia and Romila, thank you all for your lovely messages 😊🤗😊

This is terrific John! What’s the saying, no such thing as bad weather just inappropriate clothing? Love everything that Shouts SCOTLAND!! We have a beautiful country. At least in summer the rain is warm.

Hey Fiona, I’m sitting here laughing out loud at your comment! Delighted you like it and indeed- Scotland is so so beautiful 🤩 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

This has the bleak beauty I love about the highlands too. Great work.

Bill 😊 I won’t do my ‘Bleak Beauty’ 🐎 joke, I’ll sincerely thank you instead 🙏🏼🙏🏼

Great sense of depth and interesting foreground! Fantastic!

Fabulous, John! I agree with all these comments about the palette, marks etc etc. The only thing I can think of to add is: I wish I'd painted this. I can think of many places I could go to find a similar subject, but I'd struggle with such an empty composition. Your composition doesn't need any more features; it's superb.

Here in the Scottish Highlands we do get beautiful weather- it’s called rain. Personally I love it! My skin is waterproof and my car seat has a bum warmer! Rejoice in what’s around you my friends
