I can see the attraction to the subject Stevan, fascinating shapes and forms. Love how you have depicted the natural and unnatural elements, yet they fit together and enhance one another. I could look at this for a long time and still wonder at its relationship. It’s quite an emotional piece.

Agree with Fiona’s comments, Stevan - this one holds your attention. I love white areas in a painting, it enhances the other colours.

I'm excited by this one myself Fiona, the hedges in the fields near us have fascinated me for years and I'm looking forward to painting the next two in the series. I cant decide whether the shape is a consequence of sheep cropping or farmer trimming?Thanks for the comments, you do have a way with words.

Thanks Jenny, I've been using the lifting out process more of late. It gives a dirty more natural look than white paint.

This is great painting Stevan, I’m always taken with the way the hedges form, I’m certain it is sheep cropping. I have some photos in my ‘pending’ of hedges like this near us for a future painting too. You do this type of landscape so well.

I share your interest in how we divide up the landscape and ancient hedges - and I love this interpretation, as well as the sgraffito techniques you have used.

Thankyou Bobbie. The divisions have a wealth of interest through history to pure visual experiance and its become a thing with me when I go out. I'm always looking for new and interesting scenes along the hedgerows, walls and fences. Thanks again for your comments.

The words are easy with your work Stevan, they come out of the painting, you put them there! All your thoughts, memories and the pictures in your head, from looking at the trees over the years, are there. Can’t wait to see what you do next....
