Look out for a fantastic new series on oil painting by our very own Alan Bickley, starting in the February issue of The Artist! https://www.painters-online.co.uk/store/back-issues/the-artist/the-artist-february-2021-issue-264-1
I can't wait. Can you send it me early for Xmas.
Something to look forward to in the New Year.

Out on December 24 Denise - if you subscribe you should get it a few days early, or you can download a digital issue on the day!

Ooh just what I need!
Team, If you look, I am already subscribed to it and have received two issues already. Also, I am enjoying myself reading through 5 years of back issues of The Artist and Leisure Painter on Studio, so Xmas has already arrived for me.
That's fantastic Denise! I don't have access to the subscription details, so it's good to know you are enjoying the magazines as well as PO!
Oh good - I have a digital subscription to The Artist, so that's something to look forward to in the new year: Alan not only has a mastery of colour, but a talent for variety - an old Spanish fortress one day, a harbour the next, and then boats on the water: his skies are a lesson in themselves, hardly needing words!
Alan's skies really stand out. I like a good sky, I have tons of photos I've taken of cloud formations and pleasant looking skies. The variety is endless. I'm going to paint a few at some point. I've watched quite a few community videos, I'm picking up quite a bit from them. It's such an enjoyable site to be part of as there is plenty to do and plenty to learn.
Well I hope that a few readers will find something useful among the four articles. It’s aimed at the amateur artist with some ability and experience, but not necessarily with oils, that was my brief from the editor. So, all a bit basic for you Robert I’m afraid, but I hope you enjoy reading it all the same.    Denise will find it helpful I’m sure, there’s a paragraph or two on scumbling and glazing and much more! There’ll no doubt be things that Robert and other readers differ on, but I’ve tried to keep it as factual as I can, but we all have our own preferences and so on. The fourth article is on home framing, something that I’m all set up for, so I’ll be showing you some basic and not so basic equipment to get you started. It’s not difficult, you just need a few basic crafting skills, right up your street Robert!
I look forward to it.  I subscribe to the artist, so I will look out for it.
I can't wait Linda and I have just looked up scrumbling Alan and I can't wait to learn about it and try it. I wondered how to create that effect. Scrumbling looks fantastic.
