Your 'overworked' could just as easily be someone else's 'finished' - it's always a judgement, but whenever I overwork something, I always know it's because the composition was too weak to carry the painting: which sure isn't the case here, so I think I'd go for 'finished'.
Thanks Robert for your comments. I just felt that I’d perhaps started to include unnecessary detail, but after another look, it’s fine.
Not overworked at all Alan, just a bit different from your usual views but still has your distinctive brushwork.
I could happily accept either of the last two as being complete and lovely paintings Alan. Super work.
I've come late to this. Love to see your stages, Alan. And the final picture is lovely. Thank you!
Here's stage three just completed. A bit duller out today, but I'd previously indicated my shadows, so I've stuck with those. The final stage will see some tightening up of branches etc, a few areas need more depth, finally adding strong sunlit highlights and an indication of a few plants and foliage in the foreground.

Really amazing work Alan. Enjoyed seeing how it all came together
Obviously , a late reply  from myself😊
Thank you, always appreciated, even late comments!
I painted a picture of my garden, in Watercolours. My son and his g.friend tided it up for me. I was very happy as it was a mess before,  I painted my wheel barrow Pink. So when I'm out of isolation again i can go outside and do more paintings. I loved seeing your paintings. Thankyou be safe guys x
