Biography

After an accident in my car I was offered a chance to try out Acrylic painting, I always loved Art at school and wanted to be a commercial artist but in those days, I'm 70+ plus now, Art wasn't considered an occupation. So I went into office work. I'm my 30s I became a youth worker and enjoyed the chance to sample several different crafts helping run the Art tent at youth camps and youth clubs. I have enjoyed many craft hobbies throughout my life. In my 40s I worked for social services. I discovered In my early 50s I was partially deaf while I worked in the community as part of a team helping residence suffering from anti- social behaviour working with the police unfortunately after my accident and wasn't able to work any more, I loved the art course and stated painting. I was introduced to Watercolour by a friend of a friend, then my journey started. I have had several up and downs where I have found painting difficult, I struggle with my mental health and after the loss of my Mum, it took 5 years for me to start painting again. Most of my problems are as a result of the accident all those years ago. I have now started painting again after a 3 year break, my style changes each time I start again but my I love trees and landscapes remains. I've never had any formal training and finding being in large group hard to manage so art classes/groups are difficult. I do like to think I've improved from reading both Leisure painter, the Artist and watching YouTube but maybe not. Anyway now in my 70s I rarely venture past my garden but I love sitting listening to the birds and music and paint.
