More Mustangs! Well, just one this time, but sitting against the gaudy retroness that is the OK Diner: Already made some changes from the reference pic To have more focus on the car, hoping to block some colour in later today.
The layout sketch looks good Anth , looking forward to seeing it develop.
Got a decent start tonight, not the best pic as it’s still wet: This one should be interesting as it’s based on a night-time shot, first time I’ve attempted one of those!
Just the base colours have made it look interesting , I like the way you have toned the night sky suggesting lights etc.
It’s going to be a bit different from usual on this one as I have a couple of alternative reference pics - the first one I ran was very dark and lost most of the detail so I went back into it and lightened the midtones considerably, which has helped. I’ll use the dark one for the diner background and the lighter version for the car.
Great backdrop for such a fabulous car. Will be interesting to see this one develop.
Cheers both! Got some time in tonight on the background, going to have to be brave I’m getting the dark tones dark enough (again, apologies for pants photography):
Like the progress with this one Anthony. Love the OK sign above the door. Really looks like it's illuminated. Look forward to seeing this as it moves forwards.  If you are NE based is this the OK diner near Hartlepool?
Cheers Malcolm! And yes, that’s the Diner near Hartlepool, it’s where we hold our monthly Mustang meets (and many others!)
Hi Anthony, I have a 55 Mercury Montclair. If you don't mind an interloper I will have to call up in it at one of your meets.
Ooh, a Merc, nice! You’re more than welcome Malcolm, I’m also an interloper with my Pontiac and no-one minds that. Do you do social media? The Mustang’s progressed a bit: Forgot about the joys of painting yellow cars…the main colour I started off with was very transparent and I struggled with flat colour. Treat myself to a more opaque colour today and that’s definitely helped.
Had a couple of days off then got back on today - the left hand ‘wing’ of the Diner, front path and tyres. Completely scattergun, just to annoy the purists! :)
