Hi All,
Following some unpleasant developments in recent discussions I have removed the offending threads completely.
We all recognise that artistic tastes vary immensely - as they do in all areas of life. That's part of what makes us human surely?
Digital art, where it has been created from scratch, has a definite place in the art world. David Hockney, for example, has embraced this new medium whilst continuing with more traditional ways of painting and drawing. It won't suit everyone, but nothing ever does. Some prefer oils, other watercolours or coloured pencil - without all of these options the art world would be a much smaller place. The same goes for subject matter of course.
All of this and more can be openly debated on this forum but we will not tolerate personal insults and abuse of other members.
For now I have removed the threads and ask that everyone takes the time to consider that their words when posting, be aware that all of us have things in our lives that can inadvertently overspill into other areas. Don't make things personal - art is art and people are people.
In my 16+ years of working here, Painters Online has always been a friendly, helpful and welcoming site - long may that continue. We don't want to resort to bans, but this will be the next step should things get out of hand going forwards.

Let's hope that we can ALL reflect on what we're about to say, before charging in and saying it. I completely support Dawn and POL in this. If we're angry when posting - leave the post for a minute; have a think; and if the temper is reflected in the post, particularly if any personal remarks are involved, just hit the back button and don't post it.
I know that's easier said than done, but we're all adults here: and we can do it.

Well done Dawn. Not the Forum's finest hour on both sides of the argument. You've clearly shown, and not for the first time, that there's NO welcome mat for digital artists on this forum. Beyond my comprehension. It's a medium. And like any other medium requires artistic talent. Sad, sad...sad.
