It didn't take long for personal comments to rear their head on the forum once again. The personal insults have been removed and we will be arranging for the gallery comments to be deleted also. The Painters Online team will, and have done so in the past, remove any artwork that is overtly offensive. In this instance the painting may not be to everyone's taste but is not pornographic and the content does not constitute it being removed. Everyone has the ability to move past work they don't like without comment - please keep to the normally high standards of behaviour on Painters Online and trust the team to do what is needed as and when it's necessary. Please be aware that this will include bans - we don't want to do this but take this as a final warning.

I, too, agree with, Jenny. I've just had a look at the art that has caused so much negative response. As always a delicate and beautiful image. And your right, Eric, no one complains about the nakedness of other peoples work, they maybe sketches but non the less . . .  Keep posting, Eric, your work is beautiful.

Thank You Carol, I appreciate that....
My pleasure, lovely boy :)
I haven't contributed to this discussion out of respect for those ladies who have been offended by some of Eric's paintings, after all being a man how on earth can I fully appreciate how women feel when viewing them. However, I do think Eric has a valid point when commenting about the images of full frontal naked men that have been posted and that no-one seems to be offended by them, the reason being that they are sketches from a life drawing class and so 'that's ok it's Art?' There have been paintings of women with naked humongous breasts and I don't recall anyone taking offence. Is it because they've not been painted well and are not as 'realistic' as Eric's paintings? I wonder what the response would be if Eric was to paint a man in all his glory? Much has been made of the fact that children have access to the site and shouldn't be subjected to the sort of images Eric paints, but being a grandfather I think mans' genitalia and freakishly large breasts are far more disturbing to the eyes of the young (or perhaps hilariously amusing!) than anything Eric has produced. Sadly children are bombarded with sexualised images from their early years and so I don't think Eric's paintings would cause many of them to raise as much as an eyebrow.
I am far more concerned about the mismatched earrings, the braid that blends into the skin under the bodice, the necklace with ghost tile above and the missing pupil in one eye.
I haven’t commented on this issue on previous occasions but I would like to say, putting the gender, sexual, blah, blah, blah issues aside…….what happened to personal choice, and taste? Can we not make an adult decision on what we choose to look at, or not without being censored as the viewer or the creator. I don’t comment on Eric’s work very often, not because it offends me, or that it’s digital…..I appreciate the skill that goes into his work, it just isn’t, on the whole my taste.  When you are out and about, or watching tv take a look at some of the examples of the fairer sex, and tell me, honestly, that you’re not offended. Some of us, don’t do our sex any favours…….in some areas…….it’s all a matter of opinion.
We are all different in what we like , dislike accept or don’t accept , what we paint and what mediums we use  , I just hope that it continues to be so . There are lots of paintings I don’t comment on because they are not to my liking for all sorts of reasons not only digital artwork. Like  everyone it’s easy to get sucked into the disagreements that’s going on because we feel for  one side a little bit more than the other, I for one intend to be more aware off not getting involved in disagreements that are becoming person in future . Please can we close this thread now and just move on as at the end of the day there are no winners and we all have lost something.
I agree, Dixie, lock it up and move on.
I’m never one for locking threads or banning. Seems all aspects of problems should be reasonably dealt with, good or bad. Locking stuff adds fuel to the fire, as much as banning. It’s good to talk without having a rant. It’s a great painting that Eric did. Is digital art painting or drawing? Don’t know? Guess his work has toned down a little, though most, including me, feel for the wellbeing of the site, but if POL doesn’t agree it’s not up for negotiation, unless there is a mass exodus which is highly unlikely. If you discuss matters there should never be a flame war. Dummy out the pram springs to mind. No need.  Hold on to a decent temperament and things will always change for the better. Nothing  I  write or post isn’t anything  I wouldnt do or say person to person. The curse of the mummy is upon us, ha. Don’t let the bandages that cover your wounds trail in the slipstream of you going for the juggler. Actually, I am the apeman. I am the walrus, sort of makes sense now

why was my post removed from the gallery? I expressed my opinion on the topic of sexist images of women that Eric has been posting for over a year that I have been on the forum. For a whole year I saw very sexist images of women in the gallery almost every day. If management removes blatantly offensive images, then I wonder what kind of images are blatantly offensive in their eyes if not images like these.  Now we continue with the pictures of women, this last one isn't bad, but it signals to me: It's going to continue. And how often do I have to repeat that these are NOT digital works, which I denounce, but EXCLUSIVELY the sexist REPRESENTATION of the IMAGE OF WOMEN. Anyone who has ever seen his pictures of women knows what I'm talking about. And yes, the last one is really not bad, but it is the beginning of what I had to see last year: tons of giant breasts, giant butts, transparent dresses and more giant breasts, painted so realistically that you could mistake it for a photograph, what a It's a huge compliment. Since my comment has now been deleted in his gallery, but his busty lady is still allowed to drive the men's world crazy, I kindly take my hat off: That's not my platform, I don't like seeing something like that every day. If I click on the "Watercolor" section in the gallery - then I see these sexist half-naked pictures of women - and I don't have any! only! Choice to get around this other than leaving the forum here. E. writes that I should just say nothing, that I should remain silent if I don't like it. The management writes that I shouldn't do anything. Yes, I remain silent about 99% of all pictures that I don't like. However, there are 3 triggers where I, as a free-thinking person, born in Switzerland, raised to be a strong, self-confident WOMAN, WILL NOT KEEP SILENT. Animal cruelty, child abuse and SEXUALIZED portrayal of PEOPLE. There - dear management - I will "not leave the work behind me without comment" as you write. Unfortunately, since E. has now removed all of the previous works, it is not possible to get a proper impression, and it seems as if people are shooting sparrows with cannons at the one single picture. But I'm talking about the whole year what I've seen here.
Lovely Tanja....good on you,  you have good strong opinions many I agree with.  I for one would be so sorry not to see your happy work.    This site has always been fractious and usually calm eventually prevails.   Let's not reopen a can of unpleasant worms. .walk away for now, take a break and come back at a later time . Enjoy your Christmas and do your lovely painting...🌹 My open letter to Tanja.  Sylvia.
