Some interesting results on the September challenge - I really enjoyed reading all the comments and recalling some of the less than idea uniforms we all seem to have suffered in the past! So into October already - doesn't seem possible does it? On social media this month is often known as 'Inktober' and artists are encouraged to sketch with inks throughout October. So why not give it a go for this month's forum challenge? See how many ink sketches you can produce and share with us all.
I’ll start off with this Rembrandt style pen and ink… from a couple of weeks ago, but never posted! A touch of sanguine and black Conte chalk also!

And we're supposed to compete with THAT, are we?  No pressure then!   I'll have a go; I've got the equipment Alan's got, the pens, the inks, the sanguine and black crayons, the toned paper - if only they were enough.....
Alan that is gobsmacking.....  I did this one last Autumn .  They are Shaggy ink  caps , I found them on the lanes.  Not very pretty but the ink I have used  is from the fungi itself, I let some of them break down and used a dip pen.
Wow! Very good Alan, and I like the addition of the conte chalk. I love your mushrooms Sylvia and am very impressed by the fact that you have used ink from the actual mushrooms! My offering is an oak tree we pass en-route to our daughter's, done with carbon ink, fude pen, unipen and waterbrush.
Like that Karen.
That's a wow from me Alan, also great ink drawings from Sylvia and Karen.
I rarely work with inks - unless you count brush pens?  However - last Friday I chose to start my life drawing session with a 5-10 minute pen and ink sketch of our model, Sandra.
Excellent work, Alan, Sylvia, Karen and Bobbie . I don't use pens very often and when I do I ask myself why not as I do enjoy them. Done for this thread and I will make the effort to use them more this month .
Great monthly challenge Dawn. Sketchbook, walnut ink…..I like the unevenness of lines and marks that ink with whatever applicator gives you. I find it a relaxing way to draw/sketch as I’m not the best at drawing, and there’s no pressure. A local view I did last week.

sorry, is ink in english meaning also pens? or only that (fontain pens) nibs with glass or not glass ? it's so difficult in english all that different "pens"...to named correctly for me
Tanja ink is the liquid that is used in a pen , fountain pen, dip pen and pens that are made for sketch that contain in . You can use any pen, brush , stick , anything that you can transfer the ink to the paper with . I know English is a difficult language even for us who use it daily , you do really well  using it .
