Nothing festive from me, more boring old boats… but I like boats!
Nothing boring about boats Alan a really good painting of them .
Thanks Paul, just a quick made up sketch with Indian ink in my sketchbook! Trying to do a drawing of some kind each day in December… so far so good!

I like the unique edge in here Paul, how did you achieve this extraordinary effect please?
Lewis Cooper on 18/12/2022 07:11:26
Your unique arts are always professionally done Lew!
Art the paper is a 100% linen rag handmade A4 rough paper, it’s made  in India and is available on Amazon all the sheets are quite unique as they differ in texture and size vert slightly. I like it for loose painting in to good for detailing on .

I think you would enjoy painting on it Art , it quite thick and needs very to hold it to the board . And as you said it a unique surface as every sheet has that slight difference in texture and the edges are all different it’s a shame to put it in a frame and not show the edges .
This is known as the ‘deckled edge’ which appears on all hand-made watercolour paper. It is also evident on some cylinder mould made cotton papers such as the quality French paper Arches.  The natural untrimmed edge of a sheet of paper made on a cylinder mould gives this rather nice irregular edge. You can mount finished drawings or paintings directly onto a sheet of mount board, showing this deckled edge, and is a practice more commonly seen in mounted etchings and other printing processes!
