oh, a great topic:) Favorite books! I recognized Lord of the Rings and Dune, and also Sam:) here is my "attempt", one of my favorite books, which has been around for a long time..I just started painting it, and I know it's not particularly "good"...

Bit of a late entry in the favourite books category, but here's a go. Who is it/the book ?
Far from the Madding Crowd…Thomas Hardy!
I thought perhaps One Man and His Dog (Anthony Richardson)?
Maybe Tanja's is 'Lady of the Camellias.' No idea for Jim's.

Alan Bickley on 04/08/2024 11:47:19 Well done Alan. Didn't expect it so easily got. It is of course Gabriel Oak as you say.  Thought Tanja's might be Tilly of the Tuck Shop (That's really giving my age away (-:
Tanja I am flummoxed…..
Oh, I see from Googling that in English-speaking countries a completely different book cover motif is used for this novel. If I type in this novel in English, completely different book cover motifs appear! so it is almost impossible to find out.... ok, But I will give you a little hint: "Sigmund Freud" would have enjoyed it. I can't crack Lewis' book:)
I was pretty sure Tanja's was Lady of the Camelias, but I'm wrong.  Still wondering about Skylar's.  I initially wondered if it was Logan's Run, the sci-fi novel where everybody dies at 30.  But the clues lead away from that. Tanja...Andrew's already got my book...Spike Milligan's 'Adolf Hitler- my part in his downfall.'  The first of a series of funny books about his time in the army (funny if you like Spike's humour, that is.)
Bit of a wild guess for Tanja’s.  How about ‘Chocalat’
I’m stuck on Tanja’s as well, but here’s one more from me - hopefully not quite as obvious as my others, although I expect someone will get it fairly quickly.  Easy if you know the book - or maybe even if you don’t!

How about 'The moon's a balloon', David Niven's book about Hollywood.
