If you want a really easy, quick and very tasty bread recipe, try this one it’s gorgeous. I make this all the time and I hate baking but it’s that easy even I can do it. Soda Bread
Love soda bread, and as you say easy to make. I love baking  bread, one of my pass times, your recipe is a good one Fiona.
I just wrote something in the daily sketches forum...initially about the sketches, but it soon moved on to the 'current situation.'   That's a busy thread, it occurred to me we should have a thread elsewhere for that.  Yes?  No?  Maybe?  We'll see. I made my daily early morning trip to our local corner-shop.  It opens at 6 am.  Saw no pedestrians on the way there and back, only one customer in the shop who kept her distance.  Not unusual for me, I have that effect on people. I wanted bread, milk, self-raising flour, coffee.  They only had the milk and coffee.  The shop-keeper said he had some french sticks in the oven, if I'd wait a few minutes. So I went home with a french stick! I've been drawing about a fella who goes to Paris.  I was thinking about doing something different today. But a French Stick!  It's a sign...it's meant to be...sacre bleu!  So it's back to what Fred did next for me today. Moi, walking back up the hill...

Brilliant I love it and your great sense of humour!
I am self isolating and am having groceries delivered by my local supermarket, but just cannot get toilet rolls, so tried Amazon and ordered their own brand, a bulk buy of 36, initially told they would not arrive until end of April, then had an email to say they would arrive today, which they did thank goodness, now I don't have to worry for a while. I do love your wonderful cartoons Lewis keep them coming they are brilliant.
I didn't go to my corner-shop this morning.  I don't need anything just now, and think it best to stay home.  My son  phoned to check on us, he thinks I shouldn't go to shops at all.  He says he'll get anything I want.  It's because we're both 80, and my wife is very poorly anyway.  I may go for a walk later for some exercise, keeping clear of other people and shops...it's pretty quiet were we live. Thanks for your comments Maureen, very kind.  On this thread I'm using old cartoons I've made...slightly re-purposed. Thanks for the soda bread recipe Fiona.  If I can get the ingredients I'll give it a go. I was doing some pottering around our garden yesterday, clipping some old stems from an evergreen jasmine climber we have on the back of our garage.  As I did it, an old birds nest fell out...I hope is was an old one.  Probably a blackbird's, they've nested elsewhere in our garden in recent years.  A thought crossed the 'food' department of my brain in these uncertain times...bird's nest soup.   Here's a little 6 x 4 inch pic I did on this subject years ago... Maybe there's a recipe for that.  But things aren't that bad yet. I've always had plenty of time for art...we're retired, and my wife isn't always well enough to go out.  Even more time now, of course.  It sets me looking for things to do artwise.  I've been looking at old pics I started and gave up on for some reason...to see if I can have another go.  Here's one.... It was supposed to be a cartoon version of the Canterbury Tales, but I just went completely off the boil on it.  It happens, and not only to me.  Still no interest for me.  Maybe because I'm already into a cartoon project, and want to vary it with something else.  I've started sketching from reference photos, just copying them really, so that I'm not always drawing in cartoon style.   Although in the coming weeks and months I expect they'll be plenty of time for that. I hope this is of some interest, and not me just burbling on and on.  I guess if that's the case nobody will read it.  But this virtual discourse is the only way I get to chat about life and art at the moment.
Thank you Lew for my morning chuckle at the birds nest story! So long as people like you make us laugh we will get through this. By the way, not sure if you’re aware, but you can register online that a member of your household is vulnerable for various medical reasons and it should make it easier to get supermarket deliveries. I did it yesterday on behalf of my husband as he qualifies, and it’s very straightforward . It’s on the gov.uk website and if I understand it they will notify supermarket delivery organisations. Looking at Sainsburys yesterday it stated that they could only deliver to customers where they had been notified of this. It may help, or they may be swamped but worth a try. Your son is right, but I know it feels as if your independence is being eroded and that’s not so good. From your comments you are obviously able to do your early morning shop which sounds like a godsend in more ways than one. Stay safe. X
I think that’s a wise decision Lew, stay away from any shops, it’s not worth the risk. I know it varies between areas, but ASDA seem to have slots available, not many, but some. I’ve had no problem getting one so far, you may need to sign up initially, then keep looking. I’m finding after midnight is a good time to check, it’s all down to being online at the right time! I meant to add, there aren’t many tinned meats or stuff like that, not even Spam, but plenty of fresh meat, fruit and veg! Keep safe...

Thanks Tessa, useful information, I'll check out that gov.uk website.  We have a delivery booked in two weeks time, we're OK until then.  I just hope it turns up...nothing seems certain these days.
Thanks Tessa, I’ve just registered, took 3 minutes.
Thank you Alan. I just placed an order with Asda for April 8th. 😊
Oh that’s great Tessa, well done you!👍
A lot of people these day won’t know what spam is, it was introduce in the war and it actually  spiced ham. Just another of those old words etc , that have a different meaning these day. It is quite nice, ok in sandwich or with chips.
