Sound good to me, and a challenge does keep you on the go.

First time posting on the forum so apologies if I've messed up the posting! This is in response to Painters Online on Instagram asking for postcard paintings to send out to people. My print Wild poppies is postcard size, I made a similar version for the 'one of many' charity postcard project whereby printers would send out their prints foc in return for the recipient making a donation to the charity of their choice, for the amount they would pay for the print. I will send one of these out to somebody who needs cheering up in these extraordinary times - please message me via email to [email protected]

I’ve decided that over the next few week I will spend the time that is normally spend doin voluntary work, in  shops, coffee , lunch etc, learning how to draw portraits. It something I’ve wanted to do , but have always put it off for some reason or other, normally i claim not having the time won’t be able use that one now. Something positive out of a negative is always a good thing I believe.
Frances Tuck This is my first post and I am not the greatest computer user :(   I think your postcard idea is great Margaret and I have a pack of blanks so I shall get to work. Its the simple things that are most appreciated if you are home alone. Everyone look after yourselves and keep well.
Hello Francis, the idea came from Painters Online posting on Instagram and it's a great idea. Need somebody to nominate a person to receive this, so please let me know who needs cheering up folks, and email me their name & address! There must be a lot of people feeling 'down' about the the situation or having to self isolate. And I had no idea my post had so many typos Francis - just edited it to correct 🤣
Ermm....there's many a thing.......
Excellent Lew, love the humour.
Nice one, Lewis, I expect quite a few people will be able to relate to that before long!

Like most painting groups countrywide, ours has had to cancel all future meetings TFN. This is sensible as the majority of us are getting on a bit. This means that we will all have to paint at home, which is ok but we are all going to miss the banter and camaraderie that goes with the group meetings. After some thought, it suddenly came to me, why don’t we use Facebook in order to have some form of communication between us. Yesterday I set up a Facebook group for our group (Langton Art Group) and in just two days, it has taken off. We are posting our paintings and commenting away nicely. Obviously it isn’t as good as meeting in person, but it’s a good second best!
That’s a great idea Frank, I hope it goes from strength to strength. My own classes have been cancelled and the weeks summer school in June that we have locally might also go the same way. Our group also have a week away painting in France or Italy in about September, may still be a possibility depending on how things go. When I lived in the highlands winters were long and quite isolated in a way, a friend and I would set a challenge taking it in turns to either supply the photo or the subject for that week and on, say the Friday, we would send a photo of our interpretation to one another.  Have a critique session and so on, it passed the time and gave us the impetus to get the paints out and also talk about art. I’ve just had a message from one of the members of my art class and she has suggested doing what I’ve outlined above! Lol.  I’m  sure it will catch on and spread to the rest of the class.
