Thought I would post early today, but you beat me to it with your lovely church sketch Anjana. Here is something I just had to do, I heard this song on Sunday and it shouted out draw me. The song is by Chris de Burgh, and called Spanish train. For those who might not know it, it is about the devil finding an old railway worker, who is dying, and when god finds him they play 5 card poker for the souls of the dead, with the old railway worker as dealer.

Well another great day of sketches, I’m not listing individual work as I’m bound to forget someone. I keep trying to do something different each day, I was talking to a friend yesterday about how when living in Suffolk we used to see lots of Lapwings. Apparently not so common anymore? so here is my homage to great looking bird and memories.

Goodness what a fab start to the day Alan and Dixie! I don’t think I know the song Alan but it’s a very striking painting and background story. Very clever to compose and get all that on paper!
Dixie, what a lovely bird. Not sure I’ve ever seen a lapwing but yours is a beauty. Off to get my thinking cap on, only a few days left. Where has January gone?

What a picturesque setting for a church! Lovely sketch, Anjana.
Alan, that is brilliant! I used to hear that song a lot when I was a student (students at that time seemed to either be into punk or great long song ballads by Chris de Burgh or Al Stewart!) Imaginative and so well drawn.
Dixie, that lapwing is lovely - you have captured the iridescent colours beautifully. Unfortunately, lapwings (or "peewits" as I grew up calling them) have been in decline for a long time - though there the RSPB, among others, are making sterling efforts to try to increase breeding numbers in places.

Like the pen and wash Anjana, Alan I can't recall the song off hand but i'm sure i'll know it, and Paul that's a lovely lapwing drawing, you have that iridescent green shade really well. My today is a finished painting in watercolour and inkbrush pens. I have also included my preliminary sketch as well.

as we have another delightful day of ambulances and waiting rooms...
