What a lot of lovely stuff - I'm so far behind commenting!  It is great to see so many folk posting more than half way through January!   I agree with Dixie that the "chatter is brilliant" so much better than just posting paintings would be.    What a wide range - Tessa's super portrait;  looks a really interesting tower, Linda; Dixie, you can find the beauty in mundane objects; lovely detailed chapel Alan; Fiona, you are too hard on yourself - maybe not one of your very best but still good - maybe you were shocked to see blue sky after all that rain!  I love the detail in the fence; Marjorie - so beautifully drawn;  Anjana - I liked your "quirky tree"!.    Apologies if I've missed anybody.  Wonder what today will bring?

Not had chance to join in this daily challenge, but here's a quick hand drawn on Strathmore Tan using Nitram Liquid Charcoal.

Glad you managed to find time to post an image, Alan - you are welcome to join in any time :)  Beautifully drawn hands. A fairly busy day so this is a quick sketch out of a upstairs window using my beautiful new Caran D'Ache Museum Aquarelle pencils (thanks again Alan for suggesting these) with some fountain pen (and water) used to pull it together and add the background city scape.

Sensitive hands Alan, and a lovely rooftop scene Margaret. I went for a walk this morning and took a couple of photos of an old iron gate which I thought would make a good sketch, and maybe a painting eventually.

Nice sketch Alan, good one Margaret, glad you like your new pencils, Tess  that looks like a lot of great details in you gate, I missed out commenting on lots of drawings yesterday, its a shame we  cant make a comment on each post as you forget whats gone before so well done everyone. Here's mine for today, eye eye!!
great effort again today you lot. I like your gate Tessa, great shading. lovely views, I f I could see views like that from my window, might spend time looking out. Nice hands Alan, my fingers always look like bunch of Bananas. so here is my effort today. went to the coast yesterday after work for fish and chips, No I did not draw them this time, I drew the view instead. Sheringham sea front.
Lovely sketch Alan, reminded me of Staithes at first and I like the way you’ve used both pages. Linda, you may not have had time to comment on everyone but at least you’re keeping an eye on us! And a terrific one at that.
That's a great sketch of Sheringham Alan, like Tessa said it does have a look of Staithes.
Apologies for not commenting on everyone's sketches...we all appreciate each other's efforts I know, and they give inspiration. On this page I like the flowing style of Alan' hands - never used Nitram before, what are the advantages, does it smudge? Margaret, you are obviously enjoying your new pencils, lovely impressionistic sketch. Tessa, like your gate, you have such a strong style. Linda, that eye is excellent, which pencils do you use? I'd like to get that sharp effect. And Alan, I , too, like the sketch spread across the page, nice composition. I'm just finishing a cuppa then I'll start mine.
Beautifully drawn Tessa - that gate does look like it would make a nice painting; like your drawing and your pun, Linda!; lovely detailed sketch Alan - looks a great place for outdoor sketching.
Marjorie I used Derwent Graphite 3B,6B and 8b and a white gel pen. I used a stump for blending also I have an electric rubber which was a Christmas present, it has 2 different size rubbers for fine detail work so you can erase small amounts of the pencil work from where you want. There are some fantastic demo's on Pinterest showing how to draw eyes, my sketch was taken from a free internet image.
Terrific sketches everyone. Appreciate the variations of style, subject and skill....and we are all still here on day 17! I think. I must start to do my sketch in the morning or at least when it’s daylight, can’t get a decent photo at this time of day. This sketch is of a pink, frosted glass car bonnet mascot, which I picked up at a flea market in Holland......dates from the Art Deco period. Keep at it folks!
