Still going strong here.  It's interesting in the way artists see pictures everywhere.  Dixie has cornered the market in rusting vehicles and machinery...not beauty in the conventional sense, but beauty none-the-less.  A great source for inspiration.  Alan's section of a barge.  Not the barge in a river landscape, but parts of the barge got Alan's attention.  Love it.  It's fascinating what gets our creative juices going.  A section of broken down wall and a old fence. In these awful worrying times, we can count ourselves lucky that we have the will and the ability to draw and paint.
Your last sentence especially is so true Lew. It’s wonderful to have something that we can pursue indoors if needed, and which exercises the mind and imagination even if we are unable to get out. When I’m painting, I usually have the radio on and my cuppa, and I’m in another world!  I’m still able to get out for a morning walk most days but not sure how long that will continue! Hubby has plenty to keep him going in greenhouse and garden, and can drive to the allotment for as long as that’s allowed. I feel I’m able to cope with staying in totally if needed so long as we can get food- that’s the worry.  Yes, weird times indeed, and seem to get stranger daily. Keep painting and keep safe!
The issue for me is drumming up the enthusiasm at present. I’ve been stopped from doing my plein air stuff that I loved so much (I perfectly understand why obviously), but it’s somewhat dampened my enthusiasm. I’ve reverted to trawling through dozens of old and more recent sketch books for inspiration. They have sparked some interest which is a bonus, there is some useful stuff amongst the scribbles that have potential for oil paintings. We’ve always got Google to fall back on, it’s a great source for reference, but I wouldn’t want to rely on it too heavily. I have had a go at a couple of Dawn’s daily photos, just quick pen and ink which I do enjoy, thanks Dawn, and great to see many others joining in! It’s good to be part of this vital ‘community spirit’ that we seem to have amongst us all, boy, are we going to need it in the coming months! Keep safe, and keep painting!
Yes Tessa...the food situation.  I'd got my normal 2 week shop just as all this started.  I've tried ordering online delivery, the earliest date I can get is 14th April.  I've placed an order.  We'll manage until then.  I don't want to get involved in the bun-fight at the supermarkets, so I'm relying on the local corner-shop for odds and ends.  It opens at 6am, and I'm one of it's first customers before most people are up. My sons will get our food if necessary, but I don't want to put too much on their shoulders. The new rules are a bit harsh on the plein art painters like Alan.  I can picture him under a tree somewhere right out of harm's way for himself and others.  He's caught in a catch all situation. I've always drawn and will continue to do so...mine is mostly from my imagination, so for periods every day I'm lost in a kind of fantasy world.   (At the moment it's 'what did Fred do next?')
Yes it’s just the weather and time of year for many of us to be getting outside for a spot of plein air painting, and I guess that’s not going to happen unless from your car or in the garden. Maybe that’s a thought for future challenges, ‘view of your garden or through your window’?  Apart from anything we know that plein air painters gather onlookers like flies to a jam pot! Lew, who is doing orders for 14 April? I looked last night and couldn’t see any available slots for anyone?
Tessa...it's Morrisons.  I made my order around 6.30 this morning...at that time they had slots for 14th April, and after.
We managed to do a shop early last week, have enough to last about two to three week. Luckily we have two daughters who have said they will get stuff for us if needed. There is a park very near by and we are having a short walk around it each day, people are keeping their distance but acknowledging each other as they pass by. I agree that we are lucky to have a hobby that we can continue with at home. It’s been nice getting out into the garden theses last few days. Keep well and safe everyone, don’t forget to keep in touch. My offering is a different sort of transport,  I live in France for a few years a a youngster and help a local farmer with his horses and carts.
Cheers Lew, I’ll have a look. Obviously it may vary in different areas.
Nice horse and Cart dixie. Lucky for me I can walk the streets, not lucky for me, there are still idiots who open their door to take the post of me. Here one from our last holiday, who would have thought It might be a while before we can do it again. Sat on the beach that is.
Last post for today.

Ah to be on the beach! Lovely thought. Like both of these this morning. Did my usual walk and didn’t see a soul until I got home and a neighbour was heading out. Not sure what inspiration will come along today, but something surely will!

We are ok for the moment and have a delivery due next week. I was just trying to plan ahead and be organised! Hopefully things will settle as suppliers get more organised and the panickers calm down.
