Well said Dixie. I totally agree with you, and think it would be a great shame for something so positive, helpful and enjoyable to end sadly. I intend to keep going until the end of March when outdoor painting and sketching will hopefully take over, weather permitting!  Again many thanks to Margaret for starting this and for keeping it going as long as it has. It’s a bit like New Year Resolutions which are usually a distant memory by mid Jan!
What is going to stop? Please don't stop.  I love this forum and you are all great.  It is a load of fun here.
Thank you Sandi! I hope Margaret is reading this morning’s comments and will keep posting. I am at least for the mo. Now where’s my sketch pad...
Alan loves your boatyard.  It is so colorful and they all look like they are chatting with one another.  Reminds me I need a telephone.  I took mine out due to all the market calls.  Don't you just hate it when a person phones and immediately tells you that you have been in an accident, which is complete news, you asking yourself, when?, How did it happen?  Your telephone is a nice sketch and a reminder Tessa.  Christopher, your primroses are so pretty.  Dixie that wise owl is watching us all and saying " let's not close down anything of the forum.  Some of us need a lot of inspiration to take out our pencils and make effort to paint or draw, so this is a good place to start and it is so fun in here.  just look at me.  I am a beautifully drawn owl...ta hoo ta hoo!"
Never one to stop at other peoples requests, I too will continue to post when  can. Thank you Margaret for making the winter time fun. I have enjoyed the interaction with everybody, which might not have happened if it wasn't for the sketching. There have been some interesting sketches again, owls telephones and primroses to mention a few. Mine today is a couple of trial sketches for a painting I'm going to start. Friends of mine bought a thatch cottage that was part of a larger cottage built in 1606, and was used as a work house. Also had some colourful characters live there over the years. The to people in my sketch are from 1620.
Who has decreed that this monthly sketching must stop?   I enjoy seeing what people come up with.  There are some great contributions.   Those colourful characters from the 1600 are fun and informative.  I have just my usual offering with my soft A5 sketchbook and uniball pen that's running out!
I don’t think anyone has decreed the it should stop Gudrun. There has been comments made that there’re are to many challenges posted at the moment and these are overtaking the forum, making it difficult for others to read ,post or find threads they want to read, well that’s how I understood it. I think it’s a case of someone made a comment and it has caused quite a rippling through the forum.
This little red iron has lived on our fireplace for many years and several houses. I think it belonged to my mother and was passed on to her earlier. I seem to remember possibly Marjorie sketching a similar one which she said was a lace iron. Must admit I didn’t know there was such a thing!
It’s amazing what we have around the house, that has been up in the family’s for years. Like the iron Tessa,  your pen portrait is very nice Gudrun and those two figures you have done Alan are excellent. Feeling good today have had some treatment on my hand and they are working much better ,due to wearing pressure gloves. My effort for today an old steam train.
Interesting 1600 figures Alan. I look forward to seeing the painting that follows, and what a lovely challenge for your friends cottage. I remember doing history of costume for GCE art and still have my illustrations in a book somewhere. Gudrun, another of your stylish portrait sketches, know it’s yours without seeing the name. Dixie you must have a huge selection of photos of these lovely old trains, plus boats and trucks. They make excellent if difficult drawing subjects. This is from a photo taken on my walk this morning, looking through trees to fields beyond. Pen on top of watercolour wash, then some added on top.

Some more fabulous contributions. Tessa's morning walk looks particularly beautiful.  Hmm.   I haven't tried pen and wash as such.  I am intending to paint with oil tomorrow, but who knows what else I might slip in ...
I have been keeping an eye on the various discussions before deciding whether to start posting again and have been popping in and enjoying the lovely selection of sketches here over the last few days.  I am really pleased that folk have enjoyed this thread.   I'm still doing my daily sketch but posting less often suits me at present.   So here are 4 from the last few days - not in order:  Edinburgh skyline on a dull day; the trunk and main branches of a tree; tulips; a tiny sketch of a Tufted Duck done at the local pond.   Tessa, hope your daughter is getting better.
