I'm definitely a 'when you can' sketch person! This is one I did en plein air (feeling brave that day), a few months ago. I'm feeling inspired by all the sketching on painters online at the moment so will try harder! 😀 This one is a bit crinkly around the edges so any advice on sketchbooks would be very welcome; I think this one is Seawhite. Llantwit Major in April by the way.

It's what's called cockling - happens to some lightweight watercolour papers, especially if they're not stretched (i.e. soaked with water and allowed to dry flat) and will nearly always happen to cartridge paper. Was this cartridge? Daler-Rowney make a heavy-weight cartridge paper which is fine with light washes - best of all is the heavier weights of watercolour paper.
If using a sketchbook of ordinary cartridge, e.g. 90lb, 150 gsm, using the very minimum amount of water - or coloured pencils - for quick sketches is advisable.
